Bosch PB120 12V Jobsite Radio

A small and compact jobsite radio that can fit in nearly any workspace. The perfect companion for short projects and cramped spaces.

As a compact jobsite radio, this tool caters more to people who don’t have the pleasure of extra space in their garage or jobsite, yet still want to listen to music to keep their energy up while working on their projects.

Specifications

This 12V AM/FM two-band radio is powered by a 1.5Ah lithium-ion battery (the unit comes with a charger as well). With dimensions of just 12.1 x 2.8 x 7.5 inches, it fits easily into small spaces, keeping your entertainment hassle-free and out of the way when you’re working on plumbing, car repairs, and the like.

With a weight of only 3.1 pounds, this radio flaunts a perfectly compact design. As with all radios, it has an AUX port so connecting to a media player is possible. It sports two 5W speakers.

Quality

This jobsite radio is backed by a 1-year warranty, as well as a 30-day money-back guarantee. Despite its small size, it has shock-absorbing housing that will protect it from most jobsite abuse. Likewise, it has extra thick handles, so moving it from place to place will be just fine.

As for the battery charge, it will last up to eight hours before needing a charge. It’s ideal for those who are only going to be using the radio for a few hours at a time.

Usability

In terms of usability, this jobsite radio has handles that make it easy and convenient to move from place to place. What’s more, it has a slim design, which allows it to fit into small areas that you may be crammed into when working. Likewise, it also supports the Bosch Click and Go System.

Moreover, if you happen to have the Bosch L-BOXX-1 carrying case, it will fit in due to its compact storage size. The buttons on the control panel are simple and intuitive for the average user. Due to the backlit LCD screen, it is easy to spot in the dark if you want to configure the radio or check which station is playing.

I also like that there is an equalizer function that allows you to manually adjust the sound to your liking or as needed. In addition to that, next to the volume setting is a treble and bass adjustment feature for quickly adjusting the sound of your music.

Should You Buy the Bosch PB120 12V Jobsite Radio?

The Bosch PB120 is great for those who want to listen to music but have little space to work with. For instance, this would apply best if you’re working underneath a car or vehicle, working on a plumbing project in a tight bathroom, making repairs on the attic or deck, and similar jobs such as these.

This jobsite radio is ideal for workspaces that can’t accommodate a big sound system. It doesn’t take up a lot of space, yet it functions just like a regular radio with AM/FM capability and more.

If you are still unsure about your decision, go through the below list of the pros and cons of this tool.

Pros of the Bosch PB120

Let’s start with the positives.

It has a slim design.

Measuring only 12.1 x 2.8 x 7.5 inches, this is one of the best compact jobsite radios to take home with you (or to the jobsite) because of its slim design. If you’re in need of a small tool with big music power, this is a great radio to have.

A slim design is helpful for workers who want to listen to their favorite tunes from afar, without taking up too much space in the workshop or jobsite. It’s also a great companion in cramped spaces such as a bathroom or attic.

The radio has comfortable handles.

Aside from the slim design, this jobsite radio also has comfortable handles. The design of the handles has some indents that assist the user to keep an easy grip even among workspace debris. Because the handles are on both sides, moving it from place to place is easy and hassle-free.

It’s lightweight.

Weighing only 3.1 pounds, this slim jobsite radio is one of the most comfortable units to take with you anywhere. With this Bosch model, you don’t need to fuss with a big radio, so it’s good news if your hands are often full. Having a lightweight jobsite radio that’s packed with shock-resistant features is a great deal.

There’s an equalizer feature.

While this radio has a slim design that’s best for small spaces, it doesn’t mean that it lacks features. For instance, it has an equalizer for you to fine-tune your music source depending on your preferences. Whether you prefer extra bass or added treble, there’s a setting that will work for you.

Cons of the Bosch PB120

Even though the Bosch PB120 is a great tool, there are a few cons worth noting as well.

It doesn’t have Bluetooth.

One missing feature from this compact radio is a Bluetooth function that would have allowed wireless playing.

It doesn’t have many radio presets.

With only five presets each for AM and FM radio, it is a little limited in this category.

What Are the Alternatives to the Bosch PB120?

Alternative to Bosch PB120 Review If you find that the Bosch PB120 is not your cup of tea, check out my other alternative picks below:

If you prefer a larger unit that has Bluetooth function, why not check out the Bosch PB360C Jobsite Radio (read my review)? This unit also sports a space-saving design. It has up to 150 feet of Bluetooth capability with a 360-degree surround sound feature thanks to its four-way speakers. It even has 10 AM and 20 FM radio presets.

Another choice you might like is the DeWalt DCR018 (read my review), which has standard AUX and USB ports. Similar to my original Bosch pick, it doesn’t have Bluetooth, but it does have space-saving features and design. It is also compatible with 12V to 20V MAX batteries from the manufacturer.

Likewise, the Milwaukee 2890-20 (read my review) might catch your eye if you’re looking for more presets on your radio. Although it looks a little bulky, it has durable construction and is more ideal for larger jobsites. Nonetheless, it’s stackable and has up to 10 preset stations.

Summary

In the long run, the Bosch PB120 is a great space-saving choice that will provide you with hours of entertainment. Even though it lacks Bluetooth capability and has limited radio presets, it’s sufficient for small areas and this small package can bring a big mood boost to your workspace.
