If you are looking for the best tools that your money can buy, it would only make sense that you try to stick with the best brands. There are of course dozens of them out there, and today we are here to compare two specific ones, Worx and Bosch.

So, which one of those should you choose? Continue reading to find out.

A Brief History of Worx and Bosch

First off, we have Worx. This is a rather new brand, one that has not been around for very long. It is important to note that Worx is not actually its own company but rather is owned by a large Chinese company, the Positec Tool Corporation, which is based out of Suzhou, China.

The founder of the Positec Tool Corporation is a man named Don Gao who created the company in 1994. In the beginning stages, this company did not sell tools under its own brand name or under the Worx name, but rather sold tools to other brands for them to sell, with Black & Decker actually being one of those.

Don Gao recognized how profitable it would be to sell the tools under his own brand, hence why he created Worx in 2004. At this point, it appears that Worx products can be found in various retailers including Lowe’s, Walmart, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, and Costco. Information about the brand’s size and revenues is not readily available, although from what we can tell, it is a very small brand.

Long Story Short…

Bosch

A German engineering company doing way more than just power tools. Among handymen, it’s known for its high-quality cordless tools.

Bosch on the other hand is a much older company, one founded all the way back in 1883, in Stuttgart, Germany, by none other than Robert Bosch. The company, officially known as Robert Bosch GmbH, is currently located in Gerlingen, Germany.

Bosch is an extremely popular brand, one that is best known for its wide array of power tools. That said, it is an engineering conglomerate that also focuses on mobility solutions, industrial tech, consumer goods, energy and building tech, and more. It is fair to say that Bosch is one of the largest manufacturers of power tools around.

With roughly 400,000 employees worldwide and estimated annual revenues exceeding 95 billion dollars, it is a true behemoth.

Long Story Short…

Worx

Worx is a Chinese power tool and outdoor equipment manufacturer. It was launched by Positec in 2004.

Worx vs. Bosch: Which Offers Better Quality?

When it comes to Worx tools and products, these are seen as being quite average, or somewhat above average depending on the specific tools in question. Simply put, Worx products are the kinds of tools that most people would say are fine for basic home use, for small repair jobs, for DIY tasks, and for crafts and hobbies.

Most people agree that Worx tools are comfortable, functional, lightweight, and they can handle basic jobs with ease. However, they may not be quite durable or powerful enough for heavy-duty and continuous use, such as on a busy jobsite.

That said, many people do also like Worx tools because they come in at more than reasonable prices. While they may not be the best tools in the world, they also won’t empty your wallet. Just in case you were wondering, yes, Worx is owned by the Positec Tool Corporation, and yes, this company does make its products in China. Although, as far as Chinese made tools go, Worx products aren’t too bad at all.

On the other hand, we have Bosch, a brand that is known for producing above-average tools, and in most cases, well above average. One thing worth noting is that in 2018, Bosch produced over 50 million power tools.

Either way, Bosch tools are also seen as comfortable, functional, and even quite durable too, although definitely not the most durable in the world. For this reason, Bosch tools are seen as being ideal for DIY tasks, repair jobs, smaller renovations, and even for small-scale professional work. However, due to some minor issues with longevity, they may not be ideal for heavy-duty and fast-paced professional worksites.

At this time, Bosch tools are made in Malaysia, Mexico, Taiwan, and China, and a few being made in Switzerland, Germany, and the USA. It is worth noting that the European and North American made products do have higher ratings than the South American and Asian made counterparts.

Which Offers a Better Warranty?

Worx offers a three-year limited warranty on its products.

Bosch appears to offer a one-year warranty on all of its power tools. In most cases, upon registration, this can be extended to two-years.

As it appears, Worx does actually offer the better warranty of the two.

Worx vs. Bosch: Which Has a Better Product Portfolio?

What can be said about the product portfolio of these respective brands is that they do seem to focus on different areas.

First off, Worx makes a lot of power tools, crafting tools, as well as lawn and garden tools. However, a big-time focus of Worx does seem to be the outdoor lawn and garden tools, of which they have a very great selection. Although Worx is not a huge company, the selection of tools is quite good, particularly in the outdoor equipment category.

On the other hand, while Bosch may not make quite as many outdoor lawn and garden tools as Worx, they do have a much larger selection of power tools available for use, both corded and cordless. Moreover, Bosch does of course also make a variety of home appliances, which Worx does not.

Which of the Two Brands Should You Choose?

When it comes down to it, both of these brands are quite high in quality. They are both above average, with Bosch maybe being slightly better in terms of overall tool quality.

What it really comes down to here is product selection.

If you are going for power tools, then Bosch is probably the safer bet, with Worx being the better choice if you need outdoor equipment.

Summary

If you like good tools for decent prices, both Worx and Bosch are brands that we would recommend checking out.

They both have their strengths and weaknesses, so which one you go with really depends on what your needs are.
